Lightning Fréquency Across the Contiguous United States

From our colleagues at Vaisala is this map of lightning frequency across the U.S. The high frequency in the central and southern Great Plains is somewhat conditional. None of the years involved were drought years in this region. The high frequency in Gulf Coast states is more or less constant.
