Retired Military Officers Club Meeting

Mike was the guest speaker at the Retired Military Officers Club meeting held at Rolling Hills Country Club yesterday. Mike spoke about the military's involvement in the modern storm warning system, when, after WWII Colonel Robert Miller arrived at Tinker Air force Base, Oklahoma and together with Major Ernie Fawbush began forcasting tornadoes to the military which lead to the Weather Bureau issuing its first civilian tornado forecast (in today's vernacular, a watch) on March 17, 1952.

Read the entire background story of the military's contribution in Mike's book Warnings: The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather.
