Strengthening Tropical Storm Delta to Become Hurricane

Here is the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center:

Current winds are 45 mph and lowest barometric pressure is 1002 millibars. The red is a hurricane warning for western Cuba.

The storm will move over very warm water west of the Yucatan which will allow rapid intensification. I expect the storm to reach maximum winds of 110 or 115 mph. The Hurricane Center is forecasting the storm to have 100 mph wind speeds when it reaches the Louisiana coast. The storm may have a serious storm surge.

Now is the time to begin preliminary precautions.
