....this cold wave and winter storm is absolutely not "caused" by climate change!

More than 20 times since the creation of this blog in November 2009 we have questioned the prevailing wisdom of catastrophic sea level rise due to climate change. We pointed out -- example here -- that the actual levels of the sea were and are well below the level of the forecasts by Big Climate.  I am happy to report there is a new, peer-reviewed paper making the same point: sea levels are not  rising as forecast. You can find the paper here .  Big Climate especially likes the sea level rise hypothesis because they make the case that "reparations" need to be paid by advanced nations to island nations and to poor nations. In the process, plenty of $$ comes to Big Climate.  Regardless, this is very good news. 

Another well-known and respected meteorologist has written an essay (not going to name him) expressing concerns about the future of the National Weather Service and that is just fine.  Among other things, he wrote: I would encourage them and all of you to support my colleagues at the National Weather Service during this time. Their service is absolutely invaluable.  I agree. However, as far as I can tell -- and I did a web search just before writing this -- there are no proposals to cut the National Weather Service.  President Trump has publicly said he doesn't support making cuts in this area.  That said, there are plenty of reasons to cut or redirect how parent agency NOAA spends its money. While the NWS field offices are understaffed and the entire organization has so little money that it cannot perform its mission successfully, NOAA is busy handing out eight-figure "grants" for climate "education" and other projects with, as far as I can tell, no accountab...

We've frequently talked about how global warming, while being a real issue, has been increasingly exploited for those seeking power and money.  On the international front, we've just learned that between $26 and $41 billion  dollars have gone missing .  The Washington Post  is hardly a conservative publication yet even it has had to cover the many billions that were appropriated for electric vehicle charging stations (top of page) that have purchased almost nothing . The past month has clarified how Big Climate colludes with and has become imbedded in America's mainstream news media, literally. These organizations "embed" their activists in newspapers and other new organizations, even my hometown Wichita Eagle. It is almost impossible to overstate how ridiculous these climate forecasts are. This one was published more than three years ago but we -- and the planet -- are still around.  These stories are usually coordinated between Big Climate and the news media. The timing usually is when some bill is before Congress or a policy is being considered by a presidential administration or a presidential department like the Environmental Protection Administration. No one believes these except gullible climate groupies (if you wonder to whom I'm referring, just read the comments section to any Washington Post  article about climate).  Once published, [non-scientists] at the White House, in Congress, and others will write worrisome pieces on social media and for the MSM which lobbyists will use to influence congresspeople (almost none are scientists) and on and on.  The money starts flowing (if it involves alternative energy, a surprising amount of graft often seems to be involved)...

See this map from Saturday? Take a close look: This is a global warming "hype" map. Red, to almost everyone, means hot/danger. Does anyone really believe that 68°F in Iowa on the 10th of August is "hot"?! Sixty-eight is 12° below normal.  Big Climate has tried to make us think it is hotter by changing weather maps. Here are two examples from Germany. This first is from 2017. Temperatures are in degrees Celsius.  Here's a map from 2017. Temperatures are cooler than on the map above. 24°C = 75°F. Even in Germany, it is hard to believe that 24°C is considered "hot." Yet, it is in deep red.  Below is the Secretary-General of the United Nations using the latest focus-grouped term: Big Climate is relentless in its worldwide quest for money and power. Do not underestimate them!

Now, Big Climate wants to “geoengineer” our climate. This is an incredibly dangerous activity but, evidently, the Biden/Harris Administration is all for it. The risk of “unintended consequences” is high.  The story is here .  What do I mean by "unintended consequences"?   Here’s a recent example. In the 2010’s, it was decided that the sulfur used in the fuel for oceanic shipping fuels had to be eliminated. Via treaty, in 2020, the new fuels were adopted worldwide. And, guess what?  The new, cleaner, fuels are contributing to global warming and making our world hotter.   This was the opposite of the intended effect. See headlines below: So now, even though we have vast gaps in our understanding of the earth-atmosphere-ocean system, we are dumping toxic chemicals into the ocean to "fix the climate." Here's the very basic question: how do we determine the climate has been "fixed"?  By what metric? Temperatures? Number of storms? What? Climate scientists r...

And, wasn't this hurricane season supposed to be an early one? While Beryl was the earliest Cat 5 in history, what is occurring in this forecast-to-be-unprecedented hurricane season is .... nothing.  While August and September are, climatologically, the worst months hurricane seasons, this forecast -- which runs to July 27 -- would have been unexpected to the "sky is falling" climate alarmist crowd. 

The New York Times  is finally stating what has been obvious to everyone but the climate alarmists the past 20 years. You could have read that on this blog as recently as April 4 . Or, as early as November, 2014 . Or, 18 times  in between. The first story that sea level rise claims may be misleading was in November, 2009 , during the first week of the blog. Or, you could have read it on WattsUpWithThat or other blogs attempting to cover the climate in an accurate manner.  Below is a photo of one of the Maldives web cams at 5:05pm Maldives time today. The island doesn't look underwater to me. Long live the Maldives! And, don't expect Big Climate to apologize for all of the misinformation since 1989.

If this forecast is correct, it would make 2024 the slowest start to a hurricane season since 2014! I'll be the very first to say that it could still be an awful hurricane season, slow start or not. But that's not the point. After the implications that it could be a quick start to the hurricane season, excuses are already being made. The forecasts of a bad hurricane season seem to center around the observation of warmer than average water in the hurricane breeding grounds. Propaganda from "CanopyPlanet" like this is pure gaslighting..  My response: Wind farms and utility-scale solar? Wasteful, unreliable and a poor use of resources. And, the wind turbines and solar panels are wearing out far  faster than projected .  Nuclear, hydro and next-generation nuclear = smart.  Don't fall for the propaganda!!

A lot of greenery gone to build these bird-killing monsters! The generator story is here .  Now, rather than admit it has made a terrible mistake, Big Climate wants us to spend additional trillions  buying batteries for these things. Really .  If we had spent all of these trillions on nuclear power, we would have reliable  carbon free energy. But, there is no graft in a solved problem nor is there political power.

Here are some thoughts on prospects for the New Year.  Economically, new data indicates U.S. productivity (key to rising wages and prosperity) is increasing rapidly (the blue line at far right): absolutely essential for growth. While there were people early in the Biden Administration who were drifting toward the (illusionary) benefits of socialism (example, here ), that boomlet seems to have dampened down a bit -- always a good thing. Of course, we need to get back to a truly free enterprise system rather than the crony capitalism we suffer with these days, regardless of which party is in power. The Actual Climate and the Climate Movement  As reported at the time, the U.S. summer of 2023 was nothing special -- in spite of what Big Climate and their lackeys in government and the MSM wanted you to be...

...and they must have shown they could get away with the "tipping point" ruse again. Big Climate started using tipping point scare tactics way back in 1989, according to my research. They are at it again.  Don't lose any sleep over this latest nonsense!
