What did happen: My neighborhood at home lost power. And then when the power came back on, my neighbor's whole-house generator started a fire. His house was not destroyed, thank goodness, but it was severely damaged.<br /><br />You see, after Sandy, local electricians had a year-long waiting list for generator installation. So my neighbor went ahead and installed his himself.<br /><br />People...don't do that.
