Wheat Harvest and Drought Update

Here is the Palmer Drought Index up to May 30 ending at 7am. Please note that heavy rain fell in some parts of the central Great Plains about twelve hours later. That rain is not reflected on this map.

Here are 7-day rainfall amounts to 7am this morning.

As the wheat harvest picks up in Texas and Oklahoma (12% complete in the Sooner State), a few days of dry weather is needed at any given farm so the wheat can be cut.

Here is the forecast rainfall for the next seven days.
If this forecast is correct, the wheat harvest should be wrapped up quickly in Texas outside of the Panhandle and will accelerate in southern Oklahoma.
