Tornado and Damaging Thunderstorm Wind Risks Increased

Tornadoes
While the information about damaging non-thunderstorm winds in the posting below is still valid, there are significant changes in the tornado and thunderstorm wind forecasts.
The yellow area has an enhanced risk of tornadoes. The brown area has a significant risk of tornadoes.

[Note: to differentiate today from this past Friday, the latter had a "high" risk of tornadoes and "strong" tornadoes were forecast to occur. Neither is the case today]

So, it will important to monitor local media throughout the brown and yellow areas throughout the day and into the evening.

Damaging Thunderstorm Winds
There is an extreme risk of damaging thunderstorm winds in the purple area. The hatching indicates wind gusts above 75 mph.

Remember: My risk scale is:
  • Extreme, only reached a handful of times a year.
  • High, of critical importance.
  • Enhanced.
  • Significant, the lowest threshold where I believe it should be brought to your attention
