A Tropical Weather System to Watch for the Midwest and Great Plains

Hurricane Newton is headed for Baja and the Gulf of California. Then, its remains will move into the United States.

Serious flooding is likely along its path across Mexico and into Arizona with heavy rain in parts of New Mexico.

However, there is a low in the upper atmosphere that looks like it will interact with the remains of Newton to cause heavy rains over parts of the Midwest and Great Plains. While there is still some uncertainty, the most likely areas are the eastern half of Kansas, Missouri and, possibly, Iowa.

We'll be keeping an eye on Newton the rest of the week.
