11pm EST Winter Storm Update

Very heavy snow has moved from Evanston to downtown Chicago and many of the Lakefront areas (see radar). Heavy snow is also starting to develop around Bloomington (green shading). Some areas from the Loop to Gary will have as much as 6 to 12 inches.

There are multiple media reports that Delta has cancelled its flights to Washington Reagan and LaGuardia after noon to 1pm Eastern. Please check on your specific flight. Now that the cancellations have begun check this advice.

I just took a quick look at the latest data and forecasts have not changed a great deal. NYC (Manhattan) is likely to have 6 to 10 inches. Eastern Long Island a foot or a little more. A blizzard watch is in effect for Cape Cod. The pinks are winter storm warnings. The blues are travel advisories for snow (a lesser condition). Heavy snow is likely to be falling in the D.C. area Tuesday afternoon.
