Sunday Feature: Cathedral of the Plains

If you have driven across western Kansas, you have almost certainly noticed the magnificent structure south of Interstate 70 in Ellis County. Dubbed the "Cathedral of the Plains" by William Jennings Bryan, its real name is St. Fidelis Catholic Church

Today's Wichita Eagle has a great article about the church and the restoration of its magnificent stained glass windows.

Next time you are traveling I-70, pull off and tour the church. You will be impressed at the wonderful House of Worship.

  1. Fascinating article. Thanks for the link.

I grew up in southwest Kansas, and have driven I-70 between Ellsworth and KC dozens of times, but never on west to Victoria, Hays, et al. Regret having missed this treasure.
