Tropical Storm Karen Update - 4:10pm Thursday
Here is the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center (where the meteorologists are working without pay):
The salmon-shaded coastal area is a hurricane watch. The storm is expected to have sustained winds between 60 and 75 mph at landfall which will cause power failures and some storm surge.
There is a possibility of a few tornadoes near the time of landfall and there is also a chance of flooding.
While this will not be a major hurricane, there is no such thing as a "safe" tropical storm or hurricane. Please prepare for potential power failures of a day or two and flooding if you are in the warning area.
