Reader's Comments About "Warnings"

Here are some comments about Warnings: The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather received this morning:

I wrote to you just over a year ago about your excellent book ‘Warnings’.  I just finished it the other day and I must say it is a very well written book…probably the best on meteorology that I’ve ever read...

My favorite chapter of your book dealt with June 8, 1974…a day that is permanently engraved into my memory.  I live (and grew up) in central Oklahoma so that day and also the Union City tornado were the first big weather events I can remember.

I especially appreciate that he wrote to me on June 8! Thanks, Greg. The title of that chapter is "The Day TV Weather Grew Up" and it is quite a story about how storms 39 years ago today put television weather on an entire new course.

Warnings tells how storm chasing began and evolved, how we solved the problem of wind shear commercial airline crashes and the story of what really went on in the Katrina mess. It would be a great Father's Day gift.
