First Tornado Watch!

This watch includes parts of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois and it is in effect until 9pm CDT.  In addition to tornadoes wind gusts to 80 mph are possible along with hailstones of 3 inches.

This is a Particularly Dangerous Situation Tornado Watch -- The Highest Category.

Right now (2:06pm), radar is showing thunderstorms developing east and west of Waterloo, some small cells east of LaCrosse. The storms should generally move from west to east today.

I am not live-blogging these storms although I'll occasionally update. If you live in the watch area, it is essential you begin paying attention to weather bulletins and be prepared to move to safety if thunderstorms approach.
