This Blog Has Been Talking About the Low Solar Index For Years

Now, the rest of the media is catching on: Very low sunspot numbers. Some believe this will lead to global cooling. See here and here, for just two articles on that topic.

Here is the irony: Most all of those that have studied the issue believe that significant cooling would be worse for humanity than slow warming. It is not out of the question that we may want the greenhouse gases that have been accumulating in the atmosphere if the sun induces a cooling trend.

  1. Glad someone has pointed out that significant global cooling (which *was* forecasted in the 70s) would be a catastrophe.

I'm still waiting to find the climatologist who can tell me what 'normal' weather is. For some reason, it seems like they think the 1941-1970 era is supposed to be 'normal.'

  2. Brian,

I would put it another way. On numerous occasions including on this blog, I have asked climate scientists, "What is the optimum temperature for earth?"

Not once have I gotten an answer. They dodge the issue.

Until we know what the optimum temperature for earth, there is no point worrying about any of this.
