The Drought Has "Eased." What Does That Look Like?

Here is the amount of rain needed to break the drought as of August 18th.

With the rains of the last three weeks, here is the amount of rain needed to break the drought as of September First.
In some areas like northeast Kansas and west central Illinois, the amount of rain needed to break the drought has been cut in half or better. Conditions for winter wheat planting have improved considerably.

There are exceptions with the drought worsening in Nebraska and Iowa.

Over the next five days, more rain is expected in a good deal of this region.
