5pm Friday Isaac Update

The blue arrows indicate the eastern and western bounds of my forecast movement of the center of Isaac. The tropical storm or, maybe, hurricane force winds may reach south Florida Sunday afternoon or night.

If there is a second landfall in the Florida Panhandle, it would likely occur Tuesday. Farther west, landfall could be Tuesday night or Wednesday due to the longer distance the storm will have to travel.

If a northern Gulf landfall occurs, it is likely that the farther west it is the stronger the storm -- probably a hurricane at that point -- will be.

A tropical storm watch has already been issued for south Florida.

As I was quoted in Forbes yesterday, I still believe the Republican National Convention will be affected by the storm. The red Forbes link contains information that is hopefully useful to those coming by private aircraft.

Rainfalls of nine inches or more are possible in the Florida Peninsula. Given the heavier than average rain in some areas this summer, major flooding may occur.

I'll have another update tomorrow morning.
