Great Idea, Omaha Marriott

The Omaha Marriott hotel has a laminated page of severe weather safety rule right next to the desk phone in its rooms. That is a great idea for guests from parts of the U.S. and world that aren't used to dealing with tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

In some parts of the United States, the statistical danger from storms is actually higher than the danger from fire. Yet, hotel rooms are (correctly) filled with fire info and fire escapes are marked. In too many cases, severe storm shelters are not marked. I highly recommend marking severe weather shelters.
