A Message to My Friends

Forecasting major tornado outbreaks can be very, very tricky. Subtle, difficult to measure aspects of the atmosphere can make the difference between an April 27, 2011, and a bust. Meteorologists hate busting and hate looking foolish. In this case, though, it is worth the risk.

If you are in the Midwest or Mid-South tomorrow PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE WEATHER. You are my friends and I don't want anything bad to happen to you.

Given that tornado-bearing thunderstorms might be moving along Interstate 70 faster than the traffic (I'm not kidding), there will not be much time to get the information needed to save your life and act on it.

I'll post an update here in the morning. Rest well in the meantime. You'll want a good night's sleep prior to tomorrow's storms.
