4pm Friday Storm Update

With more than 3' feet of snow on the ground in parts of Colorado and I-70 closed from Denver to the Kansas border,

the snow continues to fall in many areas. Here is the AccuWeather regional radar at 3:40pm.

The area of rain in western Kansas is moving north and will change to snow as it reaches the colder air in place over Nebraska.

Here are the NWS's latest watches and warnings as of 3:45pm:

Orange = blizzard warning. Pink = winter storm warning. Dark blue = winter weather advisory. Green = various flood advisories.

Farther south, here is the radar from 3:45pm.

While the storms west of I-35 could turn severe, I don't think this is a situation for major tornadoes even though the tornado watch continues (scroll down) until 8pm in parts of northern Texas and southern Oklahoma.

The radar at 3:47 does show a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings (the polygons) in the region as the storms move ENE. Earlier, there were some funnel clouds but those were more than an hour ago.
