2pm Winter Storm Update

AccuWeather Radar at 1:47pm
Andover, KS, along the Kansas Turnpike (I-35) now has 4-5". Salina, on I-70, is reporting 4.5 inches. Roads across the entire state have become quite slick with numerous accidents reported. The snow is fairly wet for these very cold temperatures so it turns icy quickly. Salina is still reporting 4°F and Wichita is down to 7° since the last update.

Notice the snow that has developed in northern New Mexico and southeast Colorado since the last update. That will be spreading across the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma through the evening. Dallas is going to have another dose of winter.

The National Weather Service has put much of the central and southern Plains under winter storm warnings.
NWS advisories at 2pm CST. Pink = winter storm warning.
Hunter green = winter storm watch.
Blue = winter weather advisory (a lesser condition)
Live winter storm radar from AccuWeather is available here. A variety of airline waivers are in effect, check your airline's web site.

Stay warm and safe!!

ADDITION 2:30pm CST:  Some 24-hour snow forecast maps for the period starting at 6pm.
Probability of 2" or more between 6pm this evening
and 6pm Wednesday evening.

Probability of 4" or more during the same time period.
Note: These are not "storm total" maps -- they do not account for snow that has already fallen.

Conclusion: Interstate 35 between Emporia, KS and Dallas will be very hazardous tonight and tomorrow as will Interstate 40 from Texas to Memphis.
